Grammar helps to simplify the whole system and structure of language by classified the many words into parts of speech and parts of sentences, and identifying the rules on their correct use. Briefly, the following are the key topics to be aware of when thinking about grammar.

Verbs

The verbs is the most important part of speech in a sentence. Every complete sentences must have a verb. Some sentences are  compound, complex, and compound-complex- have more than one verb. A simple sentences may contain a compound verb. When you are constructing sentences, remember that you should build each sentences around the verb.

Verb Types

Sentences are constructed using two types of verbs. There are  two types of verbs  they are action verbs and state-of-being-verbs.


1.Action verb:  An action verb expresses an act. It adds power and precision to your communication. Create, invest,lose,negotiate,organize,praise,and buy are examples of action verbs. The action verb is italicized some examples are as below:
  • I check my e-mail once a day.
  • The company liquidated its assets.
  • Prabin designed the technology survey last week.
 2.State of being verbs: A state of being verb expresses the five senses( hear,smell,see,taste,and touch). Other state of being verbs includes is,am,are,was,were,seem,appear,will be, and have been. State of being verb is also  linking verb. These verbs join or link one part of a sentences to another. A State of being verbs are less powerful and less precise than action verbs. The state of verbs are in italics in the following examples: 
  • The building repair will be complete in June.
  • The constitution election is history in Nepal.
  • Business is returning to normal after the China Blocked.

Verb Tense

Verb tense indicates the time that action occurs.There are Six verb tense forms are used to indicate time.Six tenses are categorized into two groups:simple tense and perfect tense.  
  • Simple Tense: The simple tenses are present, past, and future. The time of action or state of being of each simple tense is designated by its name.
1.Present Tense: A present tense verb expresses action that is going on at the present time or action that us continuing or habitual. It verbs also may be used to indicate general truths. for example:
  • Prabin is hiring an assistant.(present time)
  • Anita tallies the sales for the department at the end of each day. (continuing)
2. Past tense: A past tense verb indicates action that has been completed. Verbs in the past tense have two forms (i) regular and (ii) irregular. It is  formed by adding -d or -ed.
  •  Anita asked for a raise.(regular- ask [root word]+ed)
  • Prabin saved 20 percent of his paycheck each month. (regular-save [root word]+d)
  • Hellu spoke to a group of high school students about accounting careers. (irregular-root word is speak)
 3. Future Tense: A future tense verb is used to indicate actions that are expected to occur in the future. It is a formed by using will before the present tense form of the verb.
  • Will the office tour be held on the 5th of hune?
  • Christine will send a copy of her itinerary to Mrs.Hellu.
