What is Perfect Tenses? How many types of Perfect Tenses.

Perfect tense verbs show completed or perfected action. The perfect tenses are formed with some form of the auxiliary verb 'to have.' As we will see from the examples in this lesson, verb tense is used to convey time. A careful writers select the verb tense that will be  help the reader understand when an action occurred. Perfect tense is the perfect tense to use when you want to show completed action in your writing. The perfect tense are  include  the present perfect, the past perfect, and the future perfect.
  

 1. Present Perfect Tense: It refers to an action begun in the past and completed in the present. It may also refer to habitual or repeated past action. This tense is formed by adding has or have to the past participle of the main verb. The following example show verbs in the present perfect tense in italics:

-Mrs.Anita has served as the company spokeperson for 18 years.

- He has rented an apartment near the Museum.

- The CEO has written many letter to the investors.  

2. Past Perfect Tense: It refers to an action that was completed before another event in the past occurred. This tense is formed by adding had to the past participle of the main verb. The verbs in the past perfect tense are in italics in the following examples:

- Mrs. Hellu had served as the company spokesperson before his retirement.

- He had looked at several apartments before deciding on the one near the beach.

- The CEO had written many letters to the stockholders prior to the merger.

3. Future Perfect Tense: It is used to express an action that will be completed before a stated time in the future. This tense is formed by adding shall have or will have to the past participle of the main verbs. Some examples of verbs in the future perfect tens are in italics in the following sentences:

-Mr. Bishal will have served as the company president for 10 years on January 2,2010.

-He will have moved into our apartment before collage starts.

-By the end of the quarter, the CEO will have written many letters to the investors.
